On Portsmouth Naval Memorial is the name of P/MX 78731 Engine Room Artificer 4th Class George Dunn, serving with the Royal Navy who died 23/01/1944.

The George Dunn mentioned on the memorial was married to my mother in June 1943. They lived with my grand parents at 4 Neville Square, Lynemouth. He served on HMS Janus which was sunk by enemy aircraft of Anzio on 23rd January 1944 his rank was Petty Officer (Eng).
