Thain, T., Pte., 1916
In Gordon Dump Cemetery, Ovillers-La Boisselle, Somme, France, is the Commonwealth War Grave of 6809 Private T. Thain, serving with the 10th Battalion Northumberland Fusiliers, who died 07/07/1916.

Acknowledgements Margaret Allison, who states his address in 1911 as 69 Ninth Row, Ashington, and that he was aged 27 years when he died.

Morpeth Herald 04/08/1916 carries a brief obituary:
Mr and Mrs Robert Thain of Ashington, whose entire family of six sons are serving with the Colours, have been notified that their son Thomas was killed in action during the great push. The deceased, who was 28 years of age, leaves a widow and one child. Pior to the war, he was employed as a coal cutter in the Bothal pit.
