Colin Boyd has provided the following:

Robert was born on 12th April 1890. He was working as a miner living with his parents, William and Elizabeth at 1, Chapel Street, Gosforth when he enlisted in the Royal Naval Division on 12th January 1915.

He joined "B" Company of the Hood Battalion on 24th February 1915 and served until he was hospitalised with Pyrexia on 15th February 1917.

He rejoined the Hood Battalion on 30th March 1917 and was reported as missing, wounded and prisoner of war on 30th December 1917.

Robert was repatriated on 14th December 1918 and died on 21st February 1920 from a haemorrhage linked to the wound on his right thigh.

Robert Wright is remembered in Gosforth on G9.19, G9.21 and G9.26
