Notes

1. This was the former Gosforth United Methodist Free Church. It became the West Avenue Methodist Church in 1932. It is now part of Trinity Church, Gosforth, a Methodist/URC Local Ecumenical Partnership meeting in the West Avenue/Ivy Road building. This will be the Trinity Church building when it re-opens after refurbishment In December 2007

2. The Methodist Church of Salters Road and West Avenue united in 1951 to form one society. The United Church met in the Salters Road premises for 2 years before moving into the altered West Avenue premises in 1953. The Salters Road premises were demolished c.2000.

3. The two outer lights are the war memorials. The central light is a family memorial to people who no longer live in Gosforth.

4. The church council has decided that the windows will not be retained in the new building.

5. One of the names of the dead is Leslie Gover. Was he related to the man who unveiled the plaque?
