In Bienvillers Military Cemetery, Pas de Calais, France is the Commonwealth War Grave of 59363 Lance Corporal Thomas Frederick Brock serving with the 8th Battalion West Yorkshire Regiment (Prince of Wales's Own) who died 02/06/1918. p>In Holy Trinity churchyard is a family headstone for Brock which reads:

In beloved memory of
Jane
The dear wife of
Frederick Brock
of Owton Manor
Died dec. 13th 1934
Aged 62 years
Also of the above
Frederick Brock
Died June 2nd 1950
Aged 78 years
and their only son
Thomas Frederick
Killed in France June 2nd 1918
Interred at Bienvillers-au-Bois

Hartlepool Northern Daily News 13/06/1918 reports:-

News has been received by Mr and Mrs F. Brock of the death in action of their only son, Lance-Corpl. Thomas Frederick Brock of the Yorks. Lance Corpl. Brock joined up on attaining the age of 18 and has been in France for the past two months. Previous to joining the Army he was with his father in the estate business, West Hartlepool, as clerk and collector. A letter received from the army chaplain states that he was killed instantaneously by a shrapnel shell which exploded near him. he was buried in a British Military cemetery at Bieuvillers-au-Bois.

The postcard reads on the back :-

Lance Cpl. Thos. Fredk. Brock, dearly loved and only son of Frederick and Jeannie Brock of The Grove, Dalton Piercy, Castle Eden. Born 10th August 1899, Killed in Action 2nd June 1918, Deeply mourned.
