In Adanac Military Cemetery, Miraumont is the Commonwealth War Grave of 2128 Serjeant Arthur G. Rutter, D.C.M., serving with the 1/8th Battalion Durham Light Infantry who died 08/09/1916.

He had been married for seven months.

The Newcastle Daily Chronicle 25/02/1916 reports:
Military Wedding.
A military wedding took place at the Chester-le-Street Parish Church, yesterday. The contracting parties were Sergeant Arthur Rutter, D.C.M., 8th D.L.I., eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. W. Rutter, 16 Lynn Street, Chester-le-Street, and Miss Elizabeth Young, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. Young, Hylton Street, Waldridge Fell. The best man was Sergeant G.W. Anderson, D.C.M., 8th D.L.I., also of Chester-le-Street, and the bridesmaids were Miss Brunnell, Chester-le-Street, and Miss Logan, Newcastle. The ceremony was performed by the Rev.V. Howard.
