On the Helles Memorial, Turkey is the name of Tyneside Z/1357 Able Seaman Joshua Arnold serving with the Nelson Battalion Royal Naval Division, Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve who died 03/05/1915.

In St Cuthbert's Churchyard, Marley Hill is a family headstone which reads:-

In loving memory of
(missing Samuel) Arnold
died 19th April 1914
aged 72 years
Jane Ann
his beloved wife
died Feb. 24th 1919
aged 66 years
Also Pte. John Arnold
their son killed in
France 1st July 1916
aged 35 years
Also Joshua their son
killed in action at the
Dardanelles 3rd May 1915
aged 28 years
