On Chatham Naval Memorial is the name of 1170EA Engine Room Artificer Frederick James Macro, serving with the Royal Naval Reserve who died 30/06/1917.

In Gateshead East Cemetery is a family headstone which reads:

In loving memory of
Emily
dearly beloved wife of
John Macro
who passed away in her
67th year, 17th Feb. 1916.
Also Frederick James Macro E.R.A.
the dearly beloved & youngest son
of the above aged 31 years
lost on H.M.S. Cheerful June 30th 1917
John Macro
beloved husband of Emily
died 4th July 1937.
