In Bishop Auckland cemetery is a family headstone which reads:-
In loving memory of
Lce. Cpl. Joseph W. Southam
who was killed in action April 26th 1915
aged 33 years
Also Evelyn Dorothy
The beloved daughter of the above
who died Feb. 11th 1921
aged 17 years
