In Reichswald Forest War Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave of 15154224 Flying Officer (Air Bomber) John Ross, serving with the 929 Balloon Squadron Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, who died 03/02/1945.

Son of Thomas and L. Maria Ross; husband of Ella Maud Isabella Florence Ross, of Durham.

Flying Officer Ross was killed when Avro Lancaster II HK688 AP-W of 186 Squadron was lost on a mission to Dortmund. The Lancaster crashed near Castrop, with the loss of al seven crew members.
