Thiepval Memorial
Harry Wooldridge, who was born in 1895, was a native of Lye in Worcestershire, the son of Walter and Ellen.
In 1911 the family, including Amy (8) and Walter Cecil (4), were living at the Vine Inn, Vine Street, Harts Hill with Walter a former Frost Cog and Screwmaker, the landlord.
At some point after this the family moved to Chilton and in 1916 they were at 22, Eden Terrace.
Harry enlisted at Bishop Auckland and joined firstly the Durham Light Infantry (number 3751) and then 13th Battalion Northumberland Fusiliers (number 35350). Harry died of wounds 18th September 1916 and is listed on the Thiepval Memorial.
Harry Wooldridge is remembered at Chilton on C107.01, C107.04 and C107.12 where the surname in all cases is Woolridge.
He is also remembered on Lye and Wall Heath War Memorials as Harry Wooldridge.
The Commonwealth War Graves additional information records his parents then living at 8, High Street, Wall Heath, but Harry never actually lived there.
