Memorial Description

Plaque mounted on wood pattress 30 inches high x 18 inches wide ( 904mm x 416mm). There is a raised pattern around the edge, and a design of leaves centre bottom. The words "Roll of Honour" are set inside a swag of leaves, with the dates on either side and the title at the top. The names of those who served are listed in three columns, with those who fell listed below. All designs and lettering are raised using sans serif capitals throughout.

Building demolished July 2005

Notes

1. The congregation amalgamated with Benton Methodist which was renamed St. Andrew’s Methodist Church.

2. The former oak pattress has gone. The plaque is now fixed directly onto the wall.

3. The original building, on the south side of Station Road North, B1317 and corner of Forest Avenue has been demolished and replaced by a block of flats.

4. The original building is depicted at the top of the Roll of Honour F33.04. This is used in this file.

a. W.A. Sutherland has a Family headstone in Longbenton (Benton) Cemetry Every Name a Story and is also remembered on F33.04

b. J. Hawthorne is remembered on the Longbenton War Memorial L25.01 and F33.04

c. The Durey Bros are remembered on F33.04

d. F. Bell is also remembered on F33.04 and Longbenton L25.07

e. A.D.A. Ellis is also remembered on F33.04
