Cain, G.A., Sgt., 1945
In Lajes War Cemetery, the Azores, is the Commonwealth War Grave of 1019159 Sergeant George Alexander Cain, serving with the Royal Air Force who died 14/03/1945.

Simon Glancey has submitted the following:

Sgt. Cain was killed when Consolidated Liberator C.VII EW626 of 246 Squadron was lost on a ferry flight from Lagens airfield in the Azores to the UK. The Liberator crashed three minutes after take off, hitting a hill some four miles west of the airfield. All 19 crew and passengers on board were killed.

George Alexander Cain is remembered in Blackwell on B146.01 and in Darlington on D40.023 and D40.035
