Moscrop, R., Pte., 1916
On the Thiepval Memorial is the name of 34568 Private Robert Moscrop, serving with the 6th Battalion King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry who died 15/09/1916.

Julie Famelton has provided the following:

He was from a family of twelve children of Robert and Lena Moscrop, Netherwitton. Mr Moscrop was described on the 1911 Census as a Tailor on his own account (self employed) working from home. Robert was listed as an apprentice gardener.

He died September 15th 1916 age 21.

Two of his other brothers, George and Walter, also joined up and are listed on the war memorial in the village which includes those that survived.

Robert Moscrop is remembered in Netherwitton on N6.01, N6.03 and N6.04
