He was born in Netherwitton in 1898, one of eight children of John and Elisabeth (nee Miller) Dunn Netherwitton. His father was Estate Forrester. Another brother, John, also served and is on the village memorial. Willie died 31st July 1917 on the first day of the 3rd battle of Ypres commonly known as Passchendaele.
William Dunn is remembered in Netherwitton on N6.03 and N6.04
