He rose
responsive to the call
and left his task
his gains his all

Sgt. Fairhurst was serving with 29 O.T.U. He was a crew member of Wellington III BK549-N which took off from Bruntingthorpe on a Bullseye training exercise. The aircraft crashed near Basingstoke following an uncontrollable fire in the starboard engine, killing all six crew.
