In Doullens Communal Cemetery Extension No.1 is the Commonwealth War Grave of 19/1534 Lance Corporal William Shannon, serving with the Northumberland Fusiliers who died 29/03/1918.

Margaret Allison states that in 1911 he lived at 44 Sixth Row, Ashington.

William Shannon is remembered in Ashington on A17.01 (A17.27), A17.22 and A17.43, and in the Battalion History page 218
