In Queens Cemetery, Bucquoy is the Commonwealth War Grave of Tyneside Z/3298 Able Seaman Robert Gregory, serving with the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve who died 17/02/1917.

In Ashington (Holy Sepulchre) Cemetery is a family headstone for Gregory which reads:

In memory of
Robert Gregory
Died 15 May 1937 aged 75 years.

also Robert only son of the above
killed in action 17 Feb. 1917

Colin Boyd has submitted the following:

Robert was born May 14th 1893. He was working as a photographer living with his father, Robert at 10, Charlton Street, Ashington when he enlisted in the Royal Naval Division on January 9th 1915.

He joined the Howe Battalion in Gallipoli on September 21st 1915 and was hospitalised with Influenza on June 11th 1916. After rejoining the Howe Battalion on November 26th 1916 Robert died of wounds on February 17th 1917.

Robert Gregory is remembered at Ashington on A17.01 (A17.27) and A17.08
