Thompson, James, A/Smn., KX/464, 1915
In Lancashire Landing Cemetery, Turkey, is the Commonwealth War Grave of KX/464 Able Seaman J. Thompson, Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve, who died 05/06/1915.

Colin Boyd has provided the following:

James was born on October 14th 1894. He was working as a miner living with his father, Joseph Thomas at 14, Morven Terrace, Ashington (later changed to 33, Sycamore Street, Ashington) when he enlisted in the Northumberland Fusiliers on September 2nd 1914.

He transferred to the RNVR on September 9th 1914 and joined the Hood Battalion on the same day. James died from the effects of a gun shot wound to the left thigh in the 11th Casualty Clearing Station in Gallipoli on June 5th 1915.

Morpeth Herald 25/06/1915 carries a brief obituary:
The death, in hospital at Alexandria, from wounds received near the Dardanelles, has been officially notified of Leading [sic] Seaman James Thompson, of Morven Terrace, Ashington, and formerly of Gateshead. He was in the Hood Battalion of the RND and also took part in the operations at Antwerp.

James Thompson is remembered at Ashington on A17.01 (A17.27) A17.08 and A17.43
