Andrew George Murray, Northumberland Fusiliers, only son of Mr Andrew Murray, formerly groom to Dr McClaggan, Berwick, and now of Akeld, Wooler, has been killed by a sniper. He served his apprenticeship with Mosgrove as a shoemaker and afterwards was employed by North British Railways Co. In Territorial before the outbreak of war. Aged 23 years. Machine gunner section. Very high praise has been received of Private Murray's soldierly bearing and courage in Letters sent by officers and men.

Andrew George Murray is remembered in Wooler on W68.01 and at Berwick on B25.01
