In St. Mary’s Burial ground is the Commonwealth War Grave with a private headstone of 11644 Private Thomas Hinson serving with the 14th Battalion Northumberland Fusiliers who died 02/01/1917.

The headstone reads:

In
Loving Memory
of
Margaret,
eldest daughter of
Robert and Mary Hinson,
who died at West Weetwood
Feb. 9 1920 aged 21 years.
Also of John, their fifth son
7th Nd. Fus. who fell in action
at High Wood Battle of the Somme,
Sep 15 1916 aged 21 years.
And of Thomas, their third son
14th Nd. Fus. who died at West Weetwood,
Jan. 2 1917 aged 26 years.
And of the above named
Robert Hinson,
who died at Lowick Mar 17 1924
aged 64 years
Also of the above
Mary Hinson
who died at Lowick May 13 1931
aged 73 years.

His brother John also died.

Thomas Hinson is remembered in Wooler on W68.01, W68.02 and W68.06 and the Regimental Book of Remembrance
