In Rothbury Cemetery is a family headstone which reads:

In loving memory of

the beloved husband
of Eleanor Wintrip
who died at Rothbury
June 29th 1907 aged 61 years.
Eleanor the beloved wife of
the above died March 14th 1928
aged 77 years.
Children of the above
Isabella died Jany. 13th 1877
aged 5 days.
Jane (?Jame) died May 3rd 1882
aged 2½ years
Frederick died March 14th 1884
aged 3 months.
Killed in action at Zonnebeke
Flanders, Nov. 27th 1917
John Thomas
dearly loved eldest son of the above
aged 35 years.
