On Tyne Cot Memorial is the name of 235450 Private Harry Mawer, serving with the York and Lancaster Regiment who died 22/09/1917.

In Preston Cemetery, North Shields, is a family headstone which reads:

loving memory of
John Mawer
who died January 19th 1910
aged 67 years
Phyllis
beloved wife of the above
died August 30th 1904 aged 64 years
Also of William son of the above
who was drowned from the S.S. Welberry
June 5th 1888, aged 17 years
Also Harry Mawer
who was killed in action in France Sept 22nd 1917.
aged 23 years.
