Pennie, A.C., Pte., M.M., 1917
In Longuenesse (St. Omer) Souvenir Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave of 203412 Private Alexander Craig Pennie M.M. serving with the 1st Battalion King’s Own Yorkshire Light Infantry, who died 26/07/1917.

In Newcastle (St. John Westgate & Elswick) Cemetery is a family headstone which reads:

Alexander was born in Jarrow, the son of George and Elspet Janet, 138 Farndale Road, Benwell. He served with 1/4th Battalion, and had also served with the 1st Battalion (formerly 7047, Private, K.O.Y.L.I). Alexander had also served with the Northumberland Fusiliers (27766, Private).

He was awarded the Military Medal on 6th January 1917 and his citation was recorded in the Gazetteer.

His brother Wallace Penny also died.
