Hardy, D., A/Smn., 1915
On the Helles Memorial is the name of KP/313 Able Seaman David Hardy, serving with the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve, who died 06/05/1915.

Colin Boyd has submitted the following:

David was born on 29th September 1891 and was working as a grocer living with his parents, John and Sarah at 112, Brinkburn Street, Byker, Newcastle upon Tyne when he enlisted in the Northumberland Fusiliers on 3rd September 1914.

He transferred to the RNVR on 10th September 1914 and joined the Drake Battalion on 3rd November 1914.

David was killed in action in Gallipoli on 6th May 1915.

He is remembered in Byker on B95.19
