Withy, B., Lieut., 1916
In La Neuville British Cemetery, Corbie, is the Commonwealth War Grave of Lieutenant Basil Withy, serving with The King's (Liverpool Regiment) who died 02/07/1916.

He was educated at Uppingham and served his apprenticeship with Furness, Withy and Co. Ltd.

For some time after the outbreak of war he did excellent work in connection with the Dunbarton Red Cross organisation, and afterwards enlisted as a private in the Liverpool Regiment and was later granted a Commission. Liverpool Daily Post 20/7/1916

He is remembered in Hartlepool on H115.10 and H115.30 in Stranton on S139.03 and in West Hartlepool on W111.54, W111.80 and W111.86
