This cot is endowed from the estate of and in memory of Lieut. Basil Withy 18th King’s Liverpool Regiment Son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Withy of Brantford House, West Hartlepool who died in France July 2nd 1916 from wounds received in battle.

Liverpool Daily Post 20/07/1916 reports death Lt. Withy with information in Note 1 above.
Daily Gazette for Middlesbrough 16/08/1916 and 09/11/1916 report endowment of a cot
Hartlepool Daily Mail 03/02/1925 contains Henry Withy Obituary and reports that he endowed a cot “in both hospitals”, the other being the Cameron Hospital.
