White, T., Pte., 1916
On the Thiepval Memorial is the name of 28074 Private Thomas White, serving with the 12th (Service) Battalion, Northumberland Fusiliers who died 13/07/1916.

Thomas was born on the 29th January 1891, at Walker, Durham, the second son of James White of 8 Bladen Street, Jarrow, and his wife Margaret, daughter of Robert Thomas Burton, he was also brother to James Heslop White

Thomas was educated at the Grange School in Jarrow. His profession was as a Ship's Fireman.

He enlisted on the 28th February 1916 and served with the British Expeditionary Force from the 14th June 1916.

He was killed in action, near Fricourt on the 13th July 1916.
