JARROW

White, J.H., Cpl., 1915
On the Loos Memorial is the name of 9790 Corporal James Heslop White, serving with the 2nd Battalion, (60th Foot) King's Royal Rifle Corps who died 26/09/1915.

James Heslop White was born in Jarrow, Durham on the 16th October 1892, he was the youngest son of James White, of 8 Bladen Street, Jarrow, and his wife Margaret, daughter of Robert Thomas Burton, and brother to Thomas White

Educated at the Grange School and Secondary School in Jarrow.

He enlisted before the war on the 13th July 1910. Sent to France and Flanders in August 1914.

He was killed in action at the Battle of Loos on the 25th September 1915.
