In Jonkerbos War Cemetery, the Netherlands, is the Commonwealth War Grave of Sergeant Ronald Heslop, serving with the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve who died 12/03/1943.

Sgt. Heslop was killed when Avro Lancaster III ED449 VN-T of 50 Squadron was lost on a mission to Essen. The Lancaster was shot down by a Luftwaffe night fighter, and crashed on the banks of the River Maas, near Venray, the Netherlands, with the loss of all seven crew members.

Also killed in the same crash was Ft. Sgt. Robert Wilson

Lancaster ED449 VN-T had departed Skellingthorpe at 1940 for Ops Essen. It was intercepted at 5300M, 3-5km, E of Limburg by a Night-Fighter captained by Nacht Jagd “Experten” Oblt Manfred Meurer (III/NJG1) and shot down at 2125 for his 20th Abschuss
