Robson, J.T., Pte., 1917

In Giavera British Cemetery Arcade, Italy is the Commonwealth War Grave of 36342 Private J.T. Robson serving with the Durham Light Infantry who died 20/12/1917.

Dearly loved and remembered by his wife and son

James Taylor Robson was the son of William (a sail maker) and Eleanor Robson of Roker. He married Margaret Ann Thornton on the 10th April 1909. Their son also James Taylor Robson was born on the 25th September 1913 also served in WW2.

James was a schoolmaster and taught at Stansfield Street Council School.

He enlisted in Sunderland on the 19th June 1915 and joined the 12th Battalion Durham Light Battalion. He embarked for France on the 26th October 1916.

He was killed in Italy on the 20th December 1917.

James Thomas Robson is remembered at Roker on R50.02 at Seaburn S142.01 at Sunderland S140.053 and S140.117 in the NUT list ofTeachers who Fell
