Pratt, T.S., Pte., 1918
In Ration Farm Military Cemetery, La Chapelle-d'Armentieres, is the Commonwealth War Grave of G/76314 Private Thomas Smith Pratt, serving with The Queen's (Royal West Surrey Regiment) who died 17/10/1918.

He was born in 1899, the son of James A and Isabella Pratt of 15 William St, Hetton Downs, Hetton-le-Hole.

He was a student at Durham Johnston School.

Thomas became a pupil Teacher at Hetton Lyons Council School.

He had enlisted into the 7th Battalion London Regiment, and given the service number No 96566 and then as Private, Regt no G/76314, in the 1st/22nd Bn The Queen’s (Royal West Surrey Regiment.)

He died on the 17th October 1918. Aged 19.

The Durham Chronicle 30/05/1919 reports from the Parish magazine:-

Thomas Pratt, killed in action in France. His parents live at 15, William Street.

Thomas Smith Pratt is remembered in Durham on D47.025 D47.052, D47.141 at Eppleton on E65.01 and at Hetton le Hole on H125.10
