Owers, T.J., Gnr., 1942
In Pelton Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave of 1076293 Gunner Tom Jobson Owers, serving with the Royal Artillery who died 25/06/1942.

Also in Pelton cemetery there is a headstone for Owers which includes:-

Also Gunner Tom Jobson son of John and Ada Owers and grandson of Robert and Jane Owers killed on War Service 25th June 1942 aged 29 years

Tom Jobson Owers was born in 1913 the son of John and Ada nee Hall. His brother John was born 30th June 1917.

In 1939 the family were living at George Street, Pelton, father John was a Colliery Locomotive Driver, Tom, a Colliery Stone Teemer and John a stone screener.

Tom is buried at Pelton with his father John - died 1960 aged 76, nearby is his mother Ada died 1968 aged 75 and other family members.

Tom Jobson Owers is remembered at Chester-le-Street in C105.05 C105.38 and on C105.40 and at West Pelton in W112.03
