In Ropery Lane Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave of LT/KX131407 Stoker William Hakin, serving with the Royal Naval Patrol Service who died 22/06/1945.

HMS Europa was a so-called “stone frigate”. It was the name of the central depot for the Royal Naval Patrol service in Lowestoft.

William Hakin is remembered at Chester-le-Street on C105.05, C105.38 and C105.40 and on our List of Ships’ crews
