Dobson, T.S., Pte., 1915

In Wolsingham (SS. Mary and Stephen) Churchyard is the Commonwealth War Grave with a private headstone of 1731 Private Thomas Stevenson Dobson serving with the 1st/6th Battalion Durham Light Infantry who died 16/05/1915.

The headstone reads:

In loving memory of
Thomas Stevenson
the beloved son of
Thomas & Margaret Jane Dobson
who was wounded April 26th 1915 at Ypres, Belgium
whilst serving with the 6th Durham Light Infantry.
Died May 16th 1915
at Wrest Park Hospital, Bedfordshire
aged 18 years.
"He answered the call".
Also Robert, brother of the above
who died Feb. 15th 1896
aged 15 months.
Also of the above
Thomas Dobson
who died Feb. 4th 1936
aged 66 years.
Also of the above
Margaret Jane Dobson
who died July 26th 1938,
aged 66 years.

He is in a booklet on the names on the Wolsingham Cenotaph compiled by Morris Ward. It also includes that his last known occupation was as Colliery Screener.

Thomas Stevenson Dobson is remembered at Wolsingham on W128.02 and W128.05 and at Hesleden on H124.01 and H124.02 where his middle name is given as Stephenson.
