John Allison, the son of William and Hannah Caile was born at Etherley in 1884. In 1911 he was serving with the 3rd Battalion the Coldstram Guards in Whitechapel London. In Spring 1914 he married Eleanor M. Adamson.
John had enlisted at Bishop Auckland, went to France 21/08/1914 and was killed in action 21/10/1914 at St. Julien.
John Allison Caile is remembered at High Etherley at H127.01 and H127.02 and at Bishop Auckland B140.03, B140.07 and as Cail B140.12
