Treasured Memories

Sgt. McBean was the pilot of a Bristol Blenheim twin engine night trainer. The aircraft crashed in a field at Hempholme, near Driffield.

Angus McBean is remembered at Durham on D47.025, D47.038, D47.040 and D47.054

He is also remembered at the site of the crash. Tophill Low Nature Reserve includes the Hempholme Meadows, which is a floodplain grazing marsh at the site. It was whilst restoring the site that Yorkshire Water found the remains of the crashed aircraft. Yorkshire Water has dedicated a new hide to Ft.Sgt. McBean’s memory. Journal 28/04/2012
