William Jerrison

In Rue-du Bacqueroy No 1 Military Cemetery, Laventie, Pas de Calais, France, is the Commonwealth War Grave of 14075 Private William Jerrison serving with the 11th Battalion Durham Light Infantry who died 02/10/1915.

William was born in Stockton-on-Tees in 1887. He was a son of Joseph and Elizabeth Jerrison, the third child in a family of five. His siblings were named Richard, Joseph, Arthur and Rebecca.

William married Janet Bruce Robb, from Shotley Bridge, in 1908. They had three children: Joseph Henry (born in 1908), George (born in 1911) and Elizabeth (born in 1913). In 1911, William and Janet were living at 2 Green Street, Shotley Bridge. William was working as a gas stoker in the gas works. The family later moved to 27 Wood Street.

William enlisted to serve as a Private in the Durham Light Infantry and was killed in action in France on the 2nd October 1915.

William Jerrison is remembered at Blackhill on B145.04 and B145.05 and at Shotley Bridge on S27.01 and S27.03

He is also remembered in The DLI Book of Remembrance page 270
