In Bucquoy Road Cemetery, Ficheux, Pas de Calais, France, is the Commonwealth War Grave of 4457965 Lance Corporal Robert William Miles serving with the 1st Battalion The Tyneside Scottish Black Watch (Royal Highlanders) who died 20/05/1940.

Son of James and Bertha Miles, of Annfield Plain, Co. Durham.

In Stanley New Cemetery is a family headstone for Miles which reads:-

who died 27th April 1926
aged 14 years
Also their dear son
L/Cpl. R. W. Miles Black Watch
Killed in Action May 20th 1940
Aged 21 years

He died that we might live

At Rest

Also the above James Miles
died 11th March 1947 aged 59 years

Also Bertha Miles wife and mother of the above
Died 26th Feb. 1969 aged 73 years
