Memorial Description

Altar rail, very plain, 96 inches long x 4 inches thick supported in two wood legs. At centre is a plaque 4 inches high x 8 inches wide which bears the dedication. In the top left hand corner of the plate is the badge of the Boys’ Brigade with the dates underneath. The names are listed in two columns, the lettering is hand painted in white, using lower case Roman lettering for the dedication and upper case for the names.

Notes

1. St. John’s Methodist Church was closed in 1963 and demolished soon afterwards. the memorials were moved to Catchgate Methodist, now also closed. Where are the memorials now?

2. A certificate was issued to those who returned. It has a black patterned border. At the top is a picture of the altar rail. It describes the plaque attached to the altar rail, but also includes the names of those who served and returned.

3. What happened to the Plaques after Catchgate United Methodist Church closed?
