Notes

1. These have not always been on the staircase. An unnamed newspaper report states they they are "shining brightly from the dark panelled walls" of the Chapel. "It is carrying on a tradition which has grown up with the years" said the Rev. A.P. Hutchinson, Temporary Assistant Chaplain at the Mission," a tradition which will no doubt continue so long as brave and gallant seamen are prepared to face all the dangers and perils of their great calling." The article states: "Not all the tablets bear testimony to the men who have lost their lives since the war started- many relate to those who have died or been killed through accident, shipwreck or other perils of the ocean, yet it is significant that since the beginning of the war approximately ? have been added to the dark panels."

2. No longer on the staircase, the plaque is situated within the Chapel.

3. The plaques are now all around the chapel on the wood panelling.
