Original Location

St. Paul’s Church, Bishopton Road / Patterdale Avenue. The plaque is placed high up on the north wall opposite the main door.

Unveiled 8th February 1920 by the Bishop of Durham.

Memorial Description

Plaque, rectangular, with top corners removed, and a pedimented top, set on a black pattress which echoes the shape. At centre top is a cross raised in half relief. The names are listed in three columns, divided by vertical lines. Lettering is in sans serif capitals throughout.

White marble plaque on black marble pattress.

1. It seems that this memorial was erected in an earlier St. Paul’s Church and transferred when the present building was built in 1925/6.
