Memorial Description
Wheeled cross of Celtic design on tapered pedestal standing on a shallow step. Set within a small stone kerb. The dedication is carried on the pedestal, the lettering incised and leaded. The names are carried in a single column on each of two sides, the second side also containing the name and dates from 1939-45.

Public subscription (30 subscribers) £171 12 3d inc. Lanchester RDC (£8 15 0d); Parish Council £20.
Notes
1. A surplus of money raised, amounting to £1 5s 3d, was donated to the Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle.
2. Special medals were struck, at a cost of £35 12s, for presentation to those who served.
3. Peace celebrations were held after the war, including tea for 170 adults and 100 children, and included sports.
4. In the Northern Echo the memorial is described as a “Cornish cross of silver grey granite”
