Unveiled 8/7/17 by Major-General R.A.K. Montgomery (commanding Tyne Garrison) and dedicated by the Rev Canon Wilkinson, Vicar of St Peter's and Chaplain to the Territorial Forces of Northumberland.
Memorial Description
Stained glass window depicting St. George, patron saint of the Northumberland Fusiliers, in shining armour with shield and raised sword. Above St. George are the words "They were lovely and pleasant in their lives and in death they were not divided". Below this is the badge of the Northumberland Fusiliers.
The accompanying plaque is 10 inches high x 52 inches wide and has a border of red roses.

Captain George Edward Hunter aged 28 years and Captain Howard Tomlin
Hunter aged 26 years
both of the 6th Northumberland Fusiliers (T) who were killed in action on
26th April 1915 near St. Julien at the second Battle of Ypres.

Notes
1. Both men were killed in the same action. With them died Lieut. A.R. Garton, who was engaged to be married to their sister.
2. In this window, St. George is represented as having the face and body of a woman. The model for this was Mrs. Hunter, mother to the two brothers commemorated.

Gosforth & Its Parish Church - a 1000 years of History (written and published by George Harbottle) tells the story of the Hunter brothers, and mentions that he himself took part in the action in which the brothers were killed.
