Memorial Description

Stained glass windows of five lights in the west end.
"The subjects are:- Our Lord and Mary, Thy Brother shall rise again, The Good Shepherd (central light), Our Lord and the Woman at the Well of Samaria and Sir Give Me This Water that I Thirst Not."
There are three plaques, the one at the top bearing the dedication in black Roman capitals with a small cross incised at the top. Two further plaques, side by side below, bear the names, in each case in five columns, using back sans serif capitals.

Present condition

The church burned down, and the tablets cracked when being removed. The window was lost, but the plaques are in storage in Gateshead.

Notes

1. After this building was demolished, the congregation joined with the Church of Venerable Bede, now also demolished, to create St. James and St. Bede Church.

2. Efforts are being made to find the plaques and have them placed in a specially created memorial garden at St.James and St. Bede at a cost of £5,000.

On enquiry in 2017 to the "A church near you" website, the reply was that the memorial could not be found.
