Notes

1. This is described in a newspaper report as being set on an antique green marble pattress.

2. This regiment is famously known as “The Bantams”.

3. This is said to have been the very first memorial to be placed in the Chapter House.

4.Sunderland Echo 19/02/1934 reports proposed move to D.L.I. Chapel and quotes Captain Walker - Steps would also be taken to see that a glass cover would be substituted for an oak panel which covered the memorial. The oak panel is beautiful but it is a shame that the memorial should have been hidden away all these years.
(Was this covering the Book of Remembrance?)
