Unveiled 24th July 1921 by Lt.Col. K.J.W. Leather, CBE, 4th DLI, dedicated by Rev. E.W. Bolland, rector of Southwick, formerly vicar of Dawdon.

Memorial Description

Stained glass window featuring St. Oswald.
(The subject is St. Oswald who lived about AD 642. He is attired in tunicle and robe bordered with ermine. He wears a crown and his hands rest on the hilt of his two handed sword. The border consists of crowned 'O's and the background is of flowers.)

Inscription

A.M.D.G. and in tender memory of Joseph Winter,
aged 20, who was killed in the Great War on 26th July 1917.
This window was erected by his loving parents. R.I.P.

Present condition

Lost. All the windows were blown out through a bomb explosions in 1939-45.

Designed by Mr. W.H. Wood, F.R.I.B.A.; made by Messrs. Burlison & Co., 36 Great Ormond Street, London.

1. A.M.D.G. are the initial letters of the Latin words meaning “To the greater glory of God”.
