Memorial Description

Stained glass window:
“The scheme of the memorial window consists of a triad of cherubs designed into a circular panel at the top of the window. Two of them are holding the victor’s wreath, whilst a third beneath them gives praise to the Almighty. Above the victor’s wreath, from which rays of glory emanate, is poised a crown of gold, symbolic of our Lord’s words ‘Be thou faithful unto death and I will give thee a crown of life.’
Below this, at eye level, is a scroll designed to look like parchment with curled edges. There is a cross in both lower corners. The names are in two columns in Gothic lettering.

Notes

1. The memorial was kept as part of a general refurbishment of the building. The family went to great lengths to preserve the SGW memorial.

2. The SGW was restored in about 2001 to its present form, as one half was broken and missing.

3. There were originally two SGW, see C105.33 for the fate of the other SGW. These were placed either side of the main entrance door.
