Memorial Description
Plaque of brass 18 inches inches high x 24 inches wide (457 mm x 608 mm) with a border of oak leaves. At centre top is the “IHS” monogram set within a circle. It is set into a rectangular moulded frame of red and white marble, otherwise very plain. The whole is set onto a plain black pattress 48 inches x 36 inches (1210m m x 914 mm). The lettering is variously upper and lower case, in elaborate Roman font, and the quotation "Dulce . . . Mori" in Gothic.

Captain Arthur Cecil Young,
16th Northumberland Fusiliers,
killed in action on the Somme,
1st July 1916 aged 24 years.
