Notes

1. The mobile library was presented to the YMCA for the use of HM Forces in Co. Durham. It was the third to operate in Co. Durham.

2. Mr. Arthur S. Witherington, father, was a member of Messrs. Witherington and Everett, shipowners, Newcastle.

3. Mr. Witherington was unable to be present at the ceremony to hand over the library, due to his wife’s illness. His cousin, Mr. Alan Bean, stood in for him.
